“We strive to be an educational oasis that quenches the thirst of students who learn differently,” says the website of the Piedmont School, and so they do.
The school is intentionally very different from other schools, primarily because their students may not always flourish in traditional schools. The Piedmont School provides a unique service to children in the community with learning disabilities or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Not only do they offer full day school programs, but also specialized tutoring and academic coaching. In small class settings (1 to 5-10), teachers can use techniques that are tailored to their students’ individual needs. They are committed to helping parents learn how best to assist their children in overcoming the hurdles that have prevented them from being successful in school.
The Piedmont School desires students to experience them as a place where they can take a breath, feel relief from fighting the system, and be accepted and encouraged to learn and grow.
The High Point Community Foundation was honored in 2014 to partner with the Piedmont School through a grant to provide scholarships to families who otherwise could not afford tuition. The foundation applauds the Piedmont School’s efforts to provide a quality education to all children, regardless of learning style or difference.
