Congratulations to Jaquan Crawford and Alexus Widemon for being selected as the 2014 recipients of the High Point Central Class of 1960 Scholarship recipients. Jaquan is attending Winston-Salem State University and Alexus is attending UNC Charlotte.
“The High Point Class of 1960 scholarship played an instrumental role in my freshman year of college. Not only did it help fund some of my college expenses, but it helped me to realize that with hard work and determination dreams can come true. Being a recipient of this scholarship has given me confidence and the hunger to fulfill my purpose and future goals. I made the dean’s list this Fall and had to courage to run for Mr. Freshman. I would like to thank the High Point Community Foundation for selecting me for this scholarship and for believing in me,” said Jaquan Crawford.
The High Point Central High School Class of 1960 Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 by Dr. Richard Carmichael, Tom Kester, and Ellis Baker to represent the High Point High School Class of 1960. The Class of 1960 is passionate about creating a permanent resource for deserving students of High Point Central High School who have the ability to pursue higher education, but not the funds. Their hope is to inspire and encourage more former classmates and alumni to contribute and participate in this goal.
