About Housing Fund

The High Point Community Foundation Housing Impact Fund will focus on convening, advocating and aggregating funds to address High Point’s critical shortage of quality, affordable housing.  We believe this is currently an unmet need that will have a direct impact on our local economy, quality of life, and the future growth of our community.

This will be an opportunity of our Foundation, City of High Point, Private Foundations, the business community, and our banking institutions to work in tantum to leverage resources for maximum impact.  Housing Funds are a proven solution that has been instrumental in several North Carolina communities by providing a dependable, low cost, financial resources to incent and encourage for-profit and nonprofit developers to build much needed multifamily structures.

The goal is to raise a $40 million loan program that will be overseen by a proven resource, Self-Help Ventures, who have already managed several transformative community Housing loan programs. We seek to increase the inventory of attainable housing projects that can serve our ever-expanding local population. Healthy quality of life resources produce vibrant communities that take a population for good to great.

Families are Cost-Burdened

Families that spend more than 30% of their annual income on housing will be considered to benefit from the Housing Fund. At least 31% of households in Guilford Co are considered cost-burdened.

Properties are declining

Many homes in High Point are dramatically aging which has a direct negative effect on the health of  High Point residents and the surrounding community.

What type of housing does this project include?2024-10-11T19:39:25+00:00

We are currently working in Phase 1 that only includes multi-family units. Phase 2 to come later will focus more on single-family homes.

Rachel Moss
“With the tremendous growth that High Point has and will continue to experience in the coming years, it is imperative that we focus now on the current and future housing needs of our community. Without this concerted effort to provide ample and diverse housing options, our employers and business owners will not have access to the local workforce that is needed to support this economic growth and will be forced to look outside of our community for talent.”
