Jermani Kea knows how to create a look.
“Fashion has always been a passion for me. I’m always trying to dress to impress.”
His college search initially took him out of state, and then he visited High Point University.
“It stood out as a different environment, more hands on. High Point felt more like home.”
With his heart set on HPU, Jermani applied for the Say Yes Guilford scholarship. When he learned he was one of five awarded scholarship covering his tuition, fees and books he knew his dream was within reach.
“I was honestly shocked. This was exactly what I’ve been working for. I was so excited. I felt so accomplished that I could attend college basically with a full ride.”
It was cause for a family celebration.
“My mom was speechless. She started crying and we started celebrating. My dad was jumping up and down.”
Jermani plans to major in fashion merchandising and business administration, and hopes one day to create his own clothing line.
“Anything is possible. I feel like I have God on my side for this.”
